Book printer's inline sheeting system delivers

Founded in 1973 by Rich and Wendy Lindemann, Total Printing Systems (Newton, IL) is a family owned digital book manufacturer. TPS' comprehensive bindery capabilities include mechanical, saddlestitch, looseleaf, perfect binding and case binding. TPS also houses an extensive shipping and fulfillment center in its 32,000-sq.-ft. facility

As the first book manufacturer to install the Scitex VersaMark digital inkjet web press, back in 2001, the Lindemanns believe the key to TPS' success is the flexibility it has achieved through its combination of diversified digital and offset, sheetfed and web presses. This includes three non-heatset web presses; four sheetfed presses (up to 22.5 inches); as well as a powerful line of digital presses including the VersaMark, Kodak NexPress and Xerox Docutech NP135s. “We typically print longer-run saddlestitched books via web offset,” says Rick Lindemann, vice president. “We find that our inkjet webs are competitive against offset printing up to 3,000 copies. Depending on the project, it's sometimes longer.”
